Selfies don't solve women's problems

imgRicha Chadha, the explosive performer who impressed film buffs with her intense performance in Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur and the soon to be release Masaan, is now crying foul on being misquoted and misrepresented about her comments on Narendra Modi's prestigious #SelfieWithDaughter campaign to save the girl child.

A leading English news paper has quoted as if Richa said, "It was a sweet initiative...but an urban initiative...meant for those who have smart phones. The problems of the female - dowry, sexual harassment, eve-teasing - cannot be solved by selfies." These comments naturally stirred up a minor storm on social media.

This made Richa to quickly clear her stance as she clarified, "FYI- I said it's great to create awareness. Just needs an expensive phone to implement it et al." Richa made these comments when asked about the Narendra Modi's campaign during one of the promotional interviews for Masaan, a film based on the relationship between a father and his daughter.
