Lukka Chuppi Review
Directed by Bash Mohammed, Lukka Chuppi is a romantic comedy drama film; with Jayasurya, Murali Gopi, Joju George, Saiju Kurup, Ramya Nambeesan, Asmitha Sood, Dinesh Prabhakar, Muthumani, etc in lead roles.
The film tells the story of a group of college mates; who gather together after several years, which leads to certain incidents happening between them.
The film can be said as a afterward life of M-Town movie ‘Premam’; which is now successfully running; as Lukka Chuppi discuss the afterward life of a marriage.
A group of friends including Raghuram (Jayasurya), Siddharth (Murali Gopi), Rafeek (Joju), Radhika (Asmitha Sood) and Benny (Dinesh Prabhakar) get some time together after a pretty interval of 14 years along with their family including Siddharth’s wife Radhika (Ramya Nambeesan), Raghuram’s wife Ani (Chinnu Kuruvila), etc.
As time proceeds, certain things happens between the family and friends during the get together forms the basic plot of the movie.
Coming to performances; Jaysurya, the talented one who proves with each progressing film; has delivered a marvellous performance as Raghuram. The character was safe and sound in hands of him; portraying a character not recently seen in his career.
Raghuram’s throughout character as an alcoholic one is difficult to handle; as a minor fault will affect the entire mood of the film. It is great to see Jayasurya handling the role without any slipping moments; which states that he developed himself as an actor who can handle any challenging role; shaping himself as a big asset to Malayalam film industry.
Murali Gopi, who was seen as Siddharth aka Siddhu delivered a splendid job with a performance alongside with Jayasurya. The actor prove worthy to be casted in the film; portraying a powerful character in a rightful manner.
Ramya Nambeesan, the talented actress has done a great job with her role, standing as one of the important characters in the movie.
Asmitha Sood’s return to Malayalam industry after 5 Sundarikal (Aami); has gained her a great break through; as she delivered a good performance in the film.
Other characters by Joju George, Saiju Kurup, Muthumani, Chinnu Kuruvila, Dinesh Prabhakar, Abhija etc also stands as big assets to the film.
Bash Mohammed made a great entrance in M-Town as a director; with an entirely different narration style in the movie; making a pleasant to watch mood from beginning to end. A wonderfully chosen cast with a good direction; makes the film worthy to watch.
Screenplay by Gafoor Arackal stands as the backbone of the film; as the movie executed the friendship and college life between the leads, without showing any flashback scenes; but posses a good narration.
Wonderfully captured visuals by Binu Bhaskar was edited perfectly by Manoj; which along with a good music by Bijipal supports the film well.
Resul Pookutty, the Oscar winner has done a fabulous job by using sink sound in the film; making a good quality sound designing in M-Town industry.
In short, the film delivers after life marriage friendships and love concepts; portrayed with a new treatment and wonderful performances; making the movie a must watch one.
