Radhika Apte statement on nude clip controversy
Actress Radhika Apte took to Twitter on Thursday to clarify that she hasn't spoken to any media agency about the nude clip controversy.
'Just to clarify I have not reacted or given any statement to any news outlet', she tweeted on Wednesday.
Several websites published reports of Radhika reacting to the video leak, quoting her from a video interview by E3 Talkies, wherein she said she laughed off the controversy.
She was reported as saying, "I saw it and laughed it off because it is really funny. I am really busy. I can't waste my time doing that. My family and I never get affected by any of these things. So it just doesn't bother me." The quote is taken from a video interview by E3 Talkies, in which Radhika is actually seen talking about 'the nude selfies' controversy that hit her in February this year.
A few days back, a video featuring actress Radhika Apte went viral on the messaging platform WhatsApp. The video was a clip from a short film that had been directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film, said Kashyap, was based on a true story. The clip has the actress lifting her clothes and showing herself in front of the camera.
Despite every care that the filmmakers took in ensuring that there were no leaks from the film, the video was circulated on WhatsApp, and went viral within hours. The irate director reached the Cyber Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police and filed a complaint about the same.
There were allegations that the leak was a 'promotional stint' on the part of the people associated with the film. This led to the Gangs of Wasseypur director lashing out against these 'sick minds' and 'sick media' on Twitter.
The cyber crime branch of the Mumbai Police is investigating how the clip was released after Kashyap filed a FIR.
