Black Panther is a marvel of a movie. Apologies for that lame pun but I couldn’t resist. Director Ryan Coogler pulls off a remarkable feat – he gives us a superhero movie with spaceships, shiny futuristic landscapes and big battles. Yet he manages to make it real. Black Panther is the first Marvel movie to have this level of heft, weight and seriousness. The film is rooted in history and culture but it also delivers the adrenaline rush that we want. And did I mention the charismatic villain – Michael B. Jordan, playing Erik Killmonger, an exile hungry to avenge his people?

The intricacies of African culture are beautifully captured and showcased in a whole new light as vibrant costumes and set design merge with high-quality CGI spectacle. Coogler adds another layer to the tale by taking on an intriguing issue of the role global superpowers play in the real world. Inspiring and empowering in equal measure, ‘Black Panther’ is a richer & deeper experience than most comic book fare. Most importantly, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will definitely benefit from the presence of King T’Challa and his kingdom of Wakanda well down the line.

This will go down as one of the rare comic-book adaptations by the Marvel movie factory to fail. Yes, Black Panther finally brings the first Black comic-book superhero to the screen. But sadly that’s about it.The stunts are feeble, though; the special effects fail to wow. Even the end-credit teasers aren’t fun. Expect to leave the theatre more exhausted than entertained.

Director Ryan Coogler has brought a beautifully simplified lesson about the things plaguing the planet right now. It's wrapped in a spectacularly executed fantasy world so that it will be easy to digest even for those who are least interested.

On the whole, BLACK PANTHER is in some ways a world of fantasy but also seems to be a very real world. It blends dynasty drama with global politics very maturely. After 52 years since its first mention in comic books, BLACK PANTHER rises high on being bold, vital and brings a welcome refreshment to Marvel Cinematic Universe. As the story continues, Black Panther will be seen in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. And of course, lastly but definitely not the least, WAKANDA FOREVER!
