Although Brahmotsavam is a very ambitious film. Wanting to tell so many things that nothing ends up being conveyed properly. You do not understand, for instance, why Mahesh goes on a journey to find his routes. There may be a reason, but it's lost in translation. And many more elements go through the same treatment. It may tug your hearts at times but even for an entire family, there's too much depth, too many ideals and too much of happiness, it's unreal, even in cinematic range it's too unreal. This is less of Brahmotsavam and more of BoreUtsavam.

Although the film has stunning production values and great cinematography, director Srikanth Addala has put all his eccentric ideas here. He directed the film based on his whims and fancies, little caring about a cohesive story or screenplay. All in all, “Brahmotsavam” tests the patience with its idiotic scenes, directionless screenplay, and snail-paced romantic thread. If not for Mahesh Babu’s presence, the film collapses completely.

The screenplay of Brahmotsavam is simply atrocious. The non linearity of the story is enough to get anyone irritated. The first half is a family drama; the second half becomes a crazy road trip journey with almost no common points of contact. It’s like watching two different films, one in first half and one in second. In the end Brahmotsavam is strictly a one time watch and mostly for Mahesh Babu fans. It is a decent ride that will leave you a little unsatisfied towards the end. But kudos to Srikanth Addala for trying to do something different.

More than movie scenes or story flow songs are dominative. Every scene and every dialogues are of Srikanth Addala’a style. Songs are picturised very beautifully. Some of the moves of Mahesh Babu are impressive. As expected first half ends with breaking of family which is high on emotion which will make family audience burst into tears. Good thing about Srikanth Addala movies is his dialogues, way of his emotional narration with a very strong characters. Second half could have been better. Compared to first half it is a let down. Srikanth Addala should have done a better job with his screenplay. Movie runs on a very slow pace in the second half. To sumup, Brahmotsavam is not a great attempt of celebration.

A film that drives home the message that relationships must be celebrated. Only that the idea is stretched into a feature film. Draw you conclusions. Slow pace hurts. Is Mahesh is out to impress the family audience? Wait and watch!
