The dadzillas put you to sleep with their cliched humour as they make desperate attempts to win over their children. Someone like Adam Sandler can still pull off these kind of comic capers but it's not Wahlberg's cup of tea. He is in great shape but that is where it ends.If you prefer slapstick family humour, you may watch Daddy's Home. Otherwise, just stay at home and skip this one.

Ferrell gamely tries to give Brad some comedic dimension, but for much of the movie, he wears a stunned, deer-in-the-headlights expression. The humor, such as it is, lies in Brad's serial humiliations in front of his family. Wahlberg, who has little gift for comedy, is a blank. He camouflages Dusty's diabolical machinations under a veneer of deadpan affability with no comedic subtext. Whenever possible, Dusty takes his shirt off and flaunts his pumped-up chest. Just as the movie is building toward a faceoff, its testosterone suddenly drains, and it expires in a feel-good dance sequence; all is forgiven. Consider Daddy's Home a lump of coal in your Christmas stocking.

From the director of We’re The Millers and Horrible Bosses comes yet another movie, which is sure to not disappoint you. If a light-hearted entertainer is what you were looking for this new year, this movie is just for you. Verdict: A light-hearted entertainer sure to make you smile.
