The grand wedding sequence of Mirziya

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s next film Mirziya, a contemporary love story set in Rajasthan is one of the most anticipated films and a launch vehicle for debutants Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher.

Saiyami Kher’s wedding sequence in the film is one of the most integral sequences of the film.

It is a grand Rajasthani wedding and for the sequence Saiyami had to wear a traditional Rajasthani poshak weighing 18 kgs, specially designed by Sabyasachi.

Along with that she also had to wear heavy jewelry worth 11 crores. In fact, in order to safeguard the jewelry there were more than 45 security guards on the sets.

The scene required Saiyami to walk a long distance in the hot desert.

The heavy outfit, jewelry and heat were a difficult combination and it was an extremely tough sequence, but Saiyami pulled it off well.

Considering the scale of the sequence, a lot of junior artistes were involved and they needed authentic costumes for each and every person. So a professional pagdi wala was called who made over 500 pagdis. Also, more than 500 gates and costumes were arranged in the scene.

Rakeysh made sure that each and every junior artist was in the perfect costume from  head to toe.

In fact, he even called for 5 trucks of marigold flowers for the sequence all the way from Kolkata. Kolkata is known for top quality marigold flowers.

The sequence was shot in 7 days, so the makers had called for the flowers at regular intervals after the initial 5 trucks.

Rakeysh is leaving no stone unturned for his film and personally looking into all the detailing, making sure everything is perfect and the entire team of the film; the cast and crew is putting in their best.
