Review - "Mariyam Mukku"
Scenarist James Albert's first attempt as director seems to have lost its was to the junction that it is "Mariyam Mukk u". The weak script with hazy treatment, all disarrayed viewers from the point of communication. Although expectation was high, especially for a Fahadh movie, but didn't get anything special. On verdict point, this film disappoints big time.....
As the title goes, story sets in the coastal small town 'Mariyam Mukku', where it has Felix (Fahadh Faasil) a hooligan, brought up by so-called godfather of this place Maariyan Ashan (Manoj K Jayan) after the death of his parents. Felix is the successor to Ashan's sovereignty in the area and his boys are always ready for the scuffle.
Here we have Felix's childhood friend Salomi (Sana Althaf) returns to this coastal town after her stay in monastery. Both develops special feelings for each other, but this relationship turns out a headache for Maariyan Ashan. Meanwhile, obstruction also came from Salomi's father Sayip (Joy Mathew). Rest of the plot concentrates on how they deal around these circumstances....
The problem is here with the script and over to that as a director James Albert's first time approach towards the execution felt as the drawback. At least makers could have given required attention in the presentation (story, dialogue etc...) then it could be the different case here.
On technical aspect, only respite was cinematography from Gireesh Gangadharan, who grasped the beautiful frames around coastal land. Edits hadn't looked in tandem. Songs and Background score also stays at the average level.
Fahadh Faasil does his basics pretty well where actor has shown that these type of characters also suits him. New entrant in heroines list, Sana Althaf also manages to grab some attention with her looks. Manoj K Jayan had aptly performed his character, Aju Varghese's role looked a bit sloppy.
Joy Mathew and Irshad also find some good scenes in the narration. Prathap Pothen, Nandhu, Neeraj Madhav, Sadikh, Devi Ajith, Seema G Nair, Reena Basheer, Sreejith Ravi and others have given their ample support to their respective character.
